Dr. Zulfqar Khan
Visiting Fellow
Dr.
Zulfqar Khan is a
Visiting Fellow of the Islamabad Policy Research
Institute. He received his Postgraduate qualification in the
Social Science Research Methods
from the
Nottingham Trent University (UK), Master degree in
International
Politics and Security Studies,
and Doctorate
with thesis titled:
The Development
of Overt Nuclear Weapon States In South Asia
from the
Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK. He has an
extensive experience of working as a free‑lance analyst for the
different institutes and departments of the government as a
consultant, and occasionally visits training institutions as a guest
speaker. He has contributed various research papers in the
journals of international repute on nuclear, security and other
international issues. Some of his publications are: 'Pakistan's
Foreign Policy Towards The United States From 1977 To 1988'; 'The
Impact Of Positivism On The Field Of Social Research'; 'India And
Pakistan: Conflict Over Kashmir, A Historical Perspective'; 'Britain' s
Role In The Origin Of The Cold War In The 1940s: A View In
Retrospect'; 'Pakistan‑India Military Standoff: A Nuclear Dimension';
and 'India‑Pakistan Nuclear Rivalry: Perceptions, Misperceptions, And
Mutual Deterrence' (forthcoming as IPRI PAPER in 2004). Dr. Zulfqar
Khan has also recently visited the China Arms Control and Disarmament
Association and the other leading think tanks of Beijing, where he had
presented his paper titled: 'The Politics Of Nuclear Non‑Proliferation
With Particular Reference To South Asia', which is expected to be
published in the IPRI Journal.
